![]() Only 5 towers of stone were left un-channeled that they might be used for various purposes. Access to all resources they might need with all the security they require. Do not forget the perils of dwarves falling into a well, however, falling into a cavern lake full of cave crocodiles will cause lots of fun. If I can get at the volcano, I can pour magma into the aquifer and circumvent it through the obsidian plug thus created. So dwarves would want a massive safe cavern complex. I think I can accomplish this with a (precariously suspended) battery of pumps though there will probably be some accidents. A fair distance from the edge though, especially when I want to get at the volcano. My aims are more modest, I suppose: Localised drainage for just long enough to build structures on the lake floor. Therefor, you might be causing caveins if youre hollowing out rooms via a combination of d ig and c h annel. If either of these pieces is wholly disconnected, a cavein will occur. If you mine out the tile body, the tile floor remains. Anton shafarenko, Lake harris fishing map, Velero jeanneau tonic 23. Tiles in Dwarf Fortress have two parts: the tile body and the tile floor. The map is something like this: wwwwwVVw w=water, 1 z-level deep Open cage dwarf fortress, Mearns quail hunting guides, Billy jack style hat. I could build a battery of D.A.S.s on what little land there is, but I suspect they'd be a long time working, and the lake would be refilling perpetually over on the far side of the map. I found them by piercing a lake, which flooded 30, 40 layers of fortress. Then I started to dig tunnels in search for the upper caves. The lake, though shallow, covers more than three-quarters of the entire map. I somehow missed the first cave layer when I dug down and settled down in layers of coal and ores obviously under cave layer one (I had found cave layer two). Something Ive wanted to do but its such a long term goal that Ive never finished one, is the 'unnatural' cavern.
